Celebrate Lunar New Year at the Los Angeles Zoo
Contact: Jason Jacobs WHY: To celebrate the Year of the Rat and enjoy ethnic Asian festivities Come see lion dancers, learn about how Lunar New Year is celebrated in Asia and make your own crafts to take home. The L.A. Zoo will celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Rat with two days of fun, family activities. There will be Kung-Fu demonstrations, Asian folk dances and artisans. Ethnic food from various countries will be available for purchase. As part of the festivities, Zoo visitors can tour the Zoo to learn about rodents that live at the L.A. Zoo including guinea pig, prairie dog, porcupine, agouti and pacarana. ### The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is located in Griffith Park at the junction of the Ventura (134) and Golden State (5) freeways. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 2 to 12. The Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For general information, call 323/644-4200. |
