The Los Angeles Zoo kicks off the holiday season with activities for the entire family at Reindeer
Romp! Reindeer arrive at the Zoo in time for Thanksgiving and stay through January 3, 2010!
Kids of all ages can get close to these beautiful creatures and make their own reindeer antlers.
On weekends, everyone can listen to festive holiday entertainment, see the Zoo’s animals enjoy
holiday treats and get a photo taken with Santa (for a nominal fee).
"Seeing live reindeer is a great way to get in the holiday spirit, and now you can see them right
here at the Los Angeles Zoo. Santa can't be far behind," said Councilmember Tom LaBonge.
Visitors to this year's Reindeer Romp will be greeted by a festive winter wonderland! Larger
than life snow flakes and beautiful trees decorated with ornaments line the Zoo's entry plaza, the
International Marketplace and Eucalyptus Grove. At Eucalyptus Grove, patrons can check out
the reindeer corral, take part in arts and crafts and on weekends have their photos taken with
Santa! The new backdrop of the reindeer corral, generously donated by Twentieth Century Fox
Television, depicts a quaint village that lies beneath vast snow covered mountains, with a three dimensional
train taking center stage!
"Bringing reindeer in for the holidays is part of the magic of the Los Angeles Zoo, and we
wanted to help make their stay even more magical," commented Twentieth Century Fox
Television Chairman and Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association Trustee Member Dana Walden. "The incredible set designers at Twentieth Century Fox Television have created a beautiful
environment for our reindeer guests, and we owe a debt of thanks to the production people and
studio executives who helped make it happen. We invite parents and kids of all ages to come
down and enjoy this fantastic exhibit."
