Billy explores his new habitat
|
After meeting our initial commitment to the City of Los Angeles of $4,850,000 in private support of the Elephants of Asia habitat, two years ago the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), in an unprecedented move, agreed to raise an additional $14,479,700 to complete the funding for Elephants of Asia. Since then, hundreds of caring conservationists, schoolchildren, foundations, and businesses have already stepped forward to make contributions but we have a long way to go to complete the funding for this magnificent habitat.
We welcome your participation in our Elephants of Asia support community.
The care and creativity that has inspired the design and construction of Elephants of Asia is unparalled in North American zoological institutions. The result of a multi-year design process, Elephants of Asia is extremely important not only for the outstanding care it offers our resident herd, but for the future of Asian elephants throughout the world. What we learn here from Tina, Jewel, Billy and their future companions are knowledge and hands-on experience which will contribute invaluably to the research, husbandry and propagation of this highly endangered animal.
There are several ways to help GLAZA pay down our remaining obligation:
