Special Concert by
Slash & Friends
Join us at Los Angeles’ favorite gala as we celebrate the L.A. Zoo’s 50th Anniversary and look to the future. Stroll throughout the Zoo grounds while visiting with the animals, enjoying music, sampling fine cuisine from some of the best restaurants in town, and bidding on silent auction items. GLAZA Trustee and rock legend Slash, accompanied by some very special friends, will close the evening with an exclusive concert under the stars.
Slash & Friends
Slash— the iconic American rock guitarist, songwriter and film producer— has amassed album sales of over 100 million copies, garnered a Grammy Award and seven Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Time magazine recently named Slash #2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its “Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All-Time” list.
In addition to being a rock legend, Slash is also a long-time Trustee of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.
Slash will be accompanied by Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band, the house band for Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show.
More about Slash
Slash helped create signature sounds like the guitar riff on #1 hits for Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Welcome To The Jungle.” After leaving the band, Slash went on to critical acclaim with Slash’s Snakepit and global success with the supergroup Velvet Revolver before embarking on his own solo career.
Slash landed on the top of the charts again with his first solo album, Slash (2010) which featured Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Myles Kennedy and more. Shortly after, he then formed his solo band: Slash: Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators featuring Myles Kennedy on vocals, Brent Fits on drums, and Todd Kerns on bass. Together they have toured all over the world for the past 6 years.
In 2016, Guns N’ Roses shocked the world and announced that the three original members, Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagen would reunite and perform a series of hugely successful shows including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. That was quickly followed by stadium shows across the US, Mexico, Japan, Australia and more, with more dates in the UK, Europe and the US to continue in 2017. Dubbed the “Not in This Lifetime Tour”, Guns N’ Roses (featuring Axl, Slash, Duff, along with Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Frank Ferrer and Melissa Reece) have played to sold out audiences around the globe making it one of the most successful tours of 2016/2017.
