For more than four decades, the private, non-profit Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) has funded exhibits, plant and animal species conservation, capital projects, and education and community outreach programs at the Los Angeles Zoo, an international leader in the preservation of endangered species and a conservation center for the care and study of wildlife. There are currently over 72,500 GLAZA member households, the largest membership base of a cultural organization in Los Angeles, and it boasts a volunteer corps of over 700.
Mission Statement
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association is a nonprofit corporation created to support the Los Angeles Zoo in its mission to nurture wildlife and enrich the human experience. GLAZA's primary responsibility is to seek and provide financial support for the Zoo’s programs and capital projects.
Ways to Support the Zoo
Did you know that our Zoo attracts over 1.6 million visitors a year? And we are growing. More and more people are coming to the Zoo since it remains one of the most economical entertainment and educational institutions in our city. On any given day you can come to our Zoo and watch hundreds of school children experience exotic wildlife up close. During the summer, holidays and spring, our Zoo hosts a vibrant ZooCamp and even provides scholarships so that underserved children can attend camp. But we would not be a Zoo without the most inspiring wildlife in the world.
In short, the Zoo is a huge educational and inspirational asset to our community.
Thank you in advance for supporting your Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens through the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. Listed below are a number of ways you can give. Choose one, or two! Do something to show you care and to show your support for this amazing community asset.
Make a Donation
On behalf of the approximately 1,100 animals who call the Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens their home, thank you for supporting the Zoo! Your gift will provide invaluable support as we work to save endangered species and teach children and adults about conservation.
ADOPT an Animal
Become an "adoptive" parent to one of the Zoo's treasured animals while helping to protect and preserve endangered species. It's a personal way to help the Los Angeles Zoo's wildlife conservation efforts and a fun way to create a special bond at the Zoo!
Safari Club
As a Safari Club patron you will be immersed in opportunities to experience the Zoo as a catalyst for change in our natural world and to come closer to the animals you love, while providing needed support for our many conservation and education programs.
Commemoratives
Whether you’re celebrating Mother’s or Father’s Day, a birth, graduation, or other personal milestone, or you are looking for a meaningful memorial, the Los Angeles Zoo’s commemorative program offers participants a lifelong tribute that is sure to honor those closest to your heart.
Planned Giving
Zoo enthusiasts who have included the Zoo in their estates are recognized as members of the Selig Legacy Society. Our Selig Legacy Society partners leave a legacy that will enable future generations to experience wildlife at our Zoo and promote the health and safety of animals in the wild.
Capital Projects
A vital way to support the Zoo is through GLAZA’s Master Plan Campaign for major animal habitat improvements. You can make a gift to a specific new capital project such as the Rainforest of the Americas, or you can support the overall Master Plan Campaign and we will designate your gift for the project most in need.
Corporate Sponsorships
Our corporate sponsors receive heightened image, expanded brand awareness, and the potential for increased sales volume - while demonstrating social responsibility and community involvement - through a wide range of cause-related marketing programs and sponsorship activation methods.
Business Partners
Partner with other conscientious corporate leaders by joining the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association’s Business Partners program. Designed specifically for local and regional businesses, Business Partners supports the Zoo’s work in conservation, education, and wildlife preservation.
Matching Gifts
As you may know, many employers provide a "matching gifts" service. This means that when you donate to an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) organization (a full nonprofit) your company may be willing to match that gift at various levels, 50 percent, 100 percent, even 200 percent!
Volunteer
The Zoo is lucky to have one of the finest groups of volunteers in the country. Volunteers play a vital role in fulfilling the Zoo's mission of "Nurturing Wildlife and Enriching the Human Experience," from helping with office work to assisting our Animal Keepers. We invite you to join this dedicated team.
