Exhibit Openings and Unique Opportunities
Campo Gorilla Reserve and Golden Monkey Exhibit
The Los Angeles Zoo will be launching two exciting new permanent animal habitats. Opening in November 2007, Campo Gorilla Reserve will feature a visitor immersion experience into the seldom-seen world of endangered gorillas. In March 2008, the Zoo will be the first in the Northwestern Hemisphere to permanently display rare golden monkeys from China. Exhibit sponsorships can include an “extended-length” recognition program on advertising, city pole banners, on-site signage, and more.
Adventure Theater
Lively and energetic, this engaging stage show highlights animals in literature. Our education staff showcases a children’s book based on its message of conservation, animals and the environment and brings it to life on the Adventure Theater stage. Audience participation is a must as children are plucked from the audience, don costumes and, lead by a staff member, “act out” stories from the featured book. This entertaining and often unpredictable live show is free with admission and runs twice daily, year round.
World of Birds Show
Touted as one of the highlights of a visit to the Los Angeles Zoo, this award-winning spectacle is seen by nearly one third of all Zoo visitors. The World of Bird Show spotlights natural bird behaviors from a variety of birds of prey and winged wonders, including a fly-by of an Andean condor with an incredible 10-foot wingspan. This free stage show performs twice daily (except Tuesday) and three times on weekends and holidays in our 1,100 seat outdoor amphitheater. Sponsors can be integrated into the live commentary and birds can be trained to interact with sponsors’ materials.
ZooMobile
When underserved groups can’t come to the Zoo, our ZooMobile comes to them. In the past five years, the ZooMobile has served more than 200,000 individuals, delivering small animals, costumes, environmental curricula and programming to special needs clients, disadvantaged schools, homeless shelters, senior homes and community centers. Run by the Education department, the ZooMobile works to increase the audience’s awareness of conservation, wildlife, and the diversity of our regional ecosystem, making in an ideal partner for corporations looking for cause marketing.
Animals & You
A daily close-up critter encounter on Zoo grounds. At various small carts throughout the Zoo, our docents showcase “pettable” animals such as bearded dragons, tarantulas, tortoises and small mammals. These 20-30 minute presentations offer visitors an opportunity to touch the animals, ask questions, and have a unique intimate connection them. Extremely popular, particularly with children, Animals & You encounters occur twice daily on weekdays, three times daily on weekends.
