The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) has nearly 71,000 member households, representing over 320,000 individuals, making us one of Southern California’s most popular family destinations. Throughout the year we offer “members only” events as well as some VIP fundraising evenings which support the Zoo’s conservation and education efforts. Sponsorship and cause-related marketing can be an integral part of these events and we are happy to customize sponsorship packages.
Beastly Ball
Described as one of the “unforgettable evenings of the year” by the Los Angeles Times, the Beastly Ball is GLAZA’s biggest fundraising event of the year with nearly 1,000 attendees raising over $1 million. Guests stroll through the Los Angeles Zoo grounds, dine on specialties from prominent restaurants, come face-to-face with animals and their handlers, bid on silent & live auction items, and dance until midnight.
Music in the Zoo
On two summer nights in July, something magical happens at the Los Angeles Zoo. The animals, normally tucked into their nighttime quarters, still roam their exhibits. Sounds of steel drums, violins, guitars, and other instruments float through the breezy air as patrons stroll throughout the zoo under a twilight sky. Music in the Zoo is a festival-style outdoor concert that allows guests to bring their own picnic dinner, dine under the stars, listen to musical entertainment, and encounter nocturnal animals – all within the wilds of the Los Angeles Zoo – all after hours.
Sunset Safari
This VIP evening is limited to GLAZA’s exclusive annual giving club, the Safari Club. Once a year, usually on a Saturday night in April, Safari Club members and top level donors embark on a Sunset Safari where they get a behind-the-scenes look at the Los Angeles Zoo. Guests experience up-close animal encounters, special feedings, and enjoy African dance music, cocktails, and international fare.
Director's Lecture Series
A stimulating intimate salon hosted by the Zoo Director. Approximately four times a year the Zoo Director invites an expert to talk to a small group of dinner guests about a timely and relevant issue in the field of conservation, wildlife preservation, animal care or the environment. These salons take place in private homes and are typically limited to 20 dinner guests, providing a unique opportunity for corporations looking to reach high net worth individuals.
