Join the fun at the Los Angeles Zoo!
The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is lucky to have one of the finest groups of volunteers in the country. Donating more than 180,000 hours of service last year, volunteers provided visitors with a unique and personal Zoo experience.
Volunteers play a vital role in fulfilling the Zoo's mission of "Nurturing Wildlife and Enriching the Human Experience," from helping with office work to assisting our Animal Keepers.
We invite you to join this dedicated team. All that's required is a love of our natural world, an interest in spending time with visitors of all ages, and completion of the required training. There are several ways in which you can volunteer your time; please follow the links to the left to explore our program and find the opportunity that is right for your particular interests and goals.
All volunteers must submit an application through our website or the US mail, which will be reviewed by our Volunteer Department staff. Depending on our needs at the time, you may be contacted for an interview for further assessment. Once accepted into the program, applicants will receive appropriate training for safety and procedures, then attend assignment specific training. You will also be required to provide an annual negative TB test and successfully complete a fingerprinting - background check.
