Rainforest of the Americas Grand Opening Event

The Honorable Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles joined City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, other city officials and John Lewis, Zoo Director and Connie Morgan, President, Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) at the April 29, 2014 Grand Opening of Rainforest of the Americas, the newest exhibit to open at a the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.  Along with a press conference, The Mayor participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially opened the exhibit to the public.
More than 24 species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds from Mexico, Central and South America are featured in Rainforest of the Americas including endangered and vulnerable native animals from this rapidly-disappearing biosphere.
