The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association announces its 2019/20 travel program with trips to Kenya, Costa Rica, and Botswana offering participants a remarkable opportunity to travel with an L.A. Zoo representative to learn firsthand about the florae and faunae as well as the history and culture of each destination. These trips highlight the wildlife in each locale, giving travelers a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the L.A. Zoo’s work to protect endangered species from extinction through wildlife and habitat conservation. These trips are tailored-made for small groups, bringing together like-minded travelers for a memorable vacation that includes superb wildlife, fascinating culture, exceptional cuisine, and distinct accommodations in some of the world’s most sought-after destinations.

Kenya: Safari Mystique Under African Skies, October 28 – November 8, 2019

Kenya is one of the world’s first safari destinations, with over 25,000 different animal species. Guests will observe wildlife from some of the best viewing spots, including their treetops hotel and the plains of the famed Maasai Mara National Reserve. This epic 10-day journey also includes a visit to Lake Nakuru, which boasts a variety of Africa’s most spectacular animals, as well the “Kingdom of Lions” where in guests will be among cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals. Kenya provides a striking backdrop to some of the world’s most unique and diverse wildlife, making it a bucket-list adventure not to be missed. Costa Rica: Showcase of Conservation, February 26 – March 6, 2020

Costa Rica, a leader in sustainable travel, has some of the richest biodiversity in the world, which has been preserved through the country’s extensive national parks system, protected lands, and local farms. With many stops only accessible by boat and plane, this nine-day journey will feature encounters with hundreds of species of mammals, birds, butterflies, amphibians, reptiles, and insects, as well as a large variety of plants. This trip is an exhilarating blend of nature and adventure, with ziplines, volcanic hot springs, and swinging bridges, making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the eco-conscious traveler. Botswana: Desert Sunsets and Delta Dawns, November 2 – 12, 2020

Botswana is the perfect blend of varied landscapes and diverse habitats making it one of the great safari destinations in Africa. From the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans to the Kalahari Desert and Okavango Delta, this trip takes travelers on a journey through vast sandy deserts and fertile wetlands wherein participants will encounter an abundance of wildlife. Some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa can be found along the riverbank of the Okavango Delta, as well as birds and animals like hippo, crocodiles, leopard, and rare antelope, among others. While on this journey, Botswana’s striking topography will be enjoyed by car, foot, and boat, making it an incredible tour for even the most seasoned explorer. This trip includes visit to Johannesburg, Maun, Makgadikgadi Pan National Park, Nxai Pans National Park, Okavango Delta, and Moremi Game Reserve.
