Tips for Enjoying the “Wildlife” at Roaring Nights

Guests have a wild time at the DJ-fueled dance party

With our summer music series kicking off tonight, here are some tips on making the most of your nocturnal adventure!

1. Allow Time for Traffic

As we all know, L.A. traffic can be bad. In fact, it’s the worst in the U.S. Be sure to start your journey to the Zoo early so you can…

2. Arrive Early

Few things are more beautiful than the L.A. Zoo at sunset. If that’s not enough to get you here when the gates open at 7:00, consider this: The packed schedule of entertainment and pop-up keeper talks starts almost immediately, at 7:15pm.

3. Wear Comfortable Shoes

With the event encompassing over a mile of pathways that wind through the Zoo, an unwise choice of kicks can limit how much you’re able to see and enjoy. Plus, you won’t just be walking; you’ll also be dancing. Preferably with wild abandon.

4. Get Inquisitive

Did you know that our docents can provide a wealth of information on the Zoo and its animals? If you find a docent at the event, go ahead and ask them about one of your favorite animals. In addition to an answer, you may just get a ticket for a free drink or carousel ride.

5. Get Social

Before you arrive, start following us on Twitter (@lazoo) and Instagram (@thelosangeleszoo). While you’re here, take pictures and share them using #RoaringNightsRocks for a chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card. (For details, see the flyer distributed at the gate upon entry.)

6. Designate a Driver or Take a Cab

Our #1 priority is always the safety of the animals here, and, during Roaring Nights, that includes you. We urge you to designate a non-drinking driver in your group, or take a cab to and from the Zoo. Do it for us. And your mother.
