All activities except Big Bunny photos and honey tasting are free with paid admission or GLAZA membership.

Spring into fun at this jubilant celebration of renewal and sustainability, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

It’s the perfect time to see adorable spring animal babies – including Angela, our newborn gorilla! Weekends include special live performances,  photo ops, and crafts, plus TWO visits from Big Bunny – April 4–5 and April 10–12. Come, have fun, and be inspired to protect the beautiful planet we all share.

Spring Fling Weekend Entertainment & Activities

  • “BUZZ: A Pollination Celebration” acrobat show at 1 and 3 p.m. and green-screen photo booth experience from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Animal walkabouts on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.
  • Author lectures and Earth Day “Teach-Ins” on select Sundays at 11 a.m.
  • Roaming butterfly stilt walker, 10:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
  • Earth Expo featuring favorite conservation and community organizations
  • “Planting for Pollinators” and “Bee House” crafts
  • Native wildflower seed giveaway (while supplies last)
  • Two special animal feedings (see schedule below)
  • “Nature in Chalk” educational activity from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Honey Tasting from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (for an additional fee)

Springtime doesn’t just happen on the weekends!

  • Spring Fling Activity Guide with baby locations, eco-inspiration, and more
  • World of Birds Show at 12:30 and 2 p.m. (except Tuesdays), starring California condor Hope, an inspiring ambassador for this critically endangered species
  • Animals & You presentations featuring bunnies and other friends at 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. (with an extra show at 12:45 p.m. on weekends)
  • Spring-themed photo ops

Big Bunny Weekends

Featuring photos with Big Bunny (for an additional fee) and bunny-ear crafts.

Big Bunny Weekend at Spring Fling Early-Morning Member Preview

Saturday, April 11, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.

GLAZA members at the Family Deluxe level and above have the opportunity to experience Big Bunny at Spring Fling before the Zoo opens to the public, with professional photos, animal experiences, and more. EARTH DAY ACTION: Recycle Handheld Electronics Through ECO-CELL

When you recycle handheld electronics through our partner ECO-CELL at the L.A. Zoo, a portion of the proceeds go to conservation nonprofits like Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE), which works to safeguard the Grauer’s gorilla, one of the most endangered primates on the planet.


What is Animal Enrichment?

During Spring Fling, we’re spotlighting a key aspect of daily animal care – enrichment. Designed to encourage natural behaviors, enrichment activities are offered throughout the year and promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our animal residents.
