Membership FAQs

No, member reservations are not required at this time.

All membership levels include a digital card that can be downloaded as many times as necessary for all named members on the account. One physical card for the primary member can be issued upon request at the membership booth.

This is to prevent misuse of membership cards, we require all adult card holders to present their photo ID upon entering the zoo. We are now offering to take photos of our members that are attached to their account. Once a photo is added to our system, that member will no longer need to show their ID to enter the zoo.

Yes! If you do not have your digital membership card or a physical card, please check in at the membership booth for assistance.

To replace a lost or stolen card, please call Member Services at (323) 644-4747, email membership@zoo.lacity.org, or visit the membership booth on site. You may visit the Zoo in the meantime by presenting your valid photo ID at the Membership Booth when you arrive at the Zoo.

Membership cards are non-transferable, so you would need to buy a membership that allows you to add an extra cardholder (Family Deluxe or higher) or give the grandparents your one-time use guest passes. Your children are always covered under your Family membership, so your membership card will cover free admission for them.

Guest passes are transferable. You do not have to accompany your guests to the Zoo and each guest pass is valid for one adult or one child admission. The passes expire when your membership expires.

No, we are unable to replace guest passes once they are printed. We can print these out at any time, so if they are not going to be used, we recommend requesting them just before use.

Upgrade your membership to the family deluxe level (which allows for three adult cardholders) and add your nanny or babysitter’s name to your membership. (Only named adults on memberships will be admitted.)

As a member, you may receive free or discounted admission to more than 170 zoos and aquariums throughout the country. Click here to see a list of participating institutions. Neither the San Diego Zoo/Safari Park nor the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach participates in our reciprocal admission program. Please be aware that the list is subject to change, and many zoos have changed their reciprocal admission policy. Prior to visiting one of the destinations on our reciprocal list, please call to confirm whether they are honoring reciprocal admission or discounts. Remember to carry your Los Angeles Zoo membership card with you when you visit.

The L.A. Zoo is open every day except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (December 25), from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendance increases on the weekends and during special events. The animals tend to be most active in the mornings and when the weather is cooler.

No, your membership is no longer tax deductible, only direct donations made to the zoo will qualify.

We appreciate your support!
